It's THE question before GTA 6: should you splurge on the PS5 Pro, or is the PS5 Slim enough? Here's a clear, jargon-free answer to help you choose based on your screen and budget.
In short
- PS5 Slim β the best value. GTA 6 will run beautifully.
- PS5 Pro β the best possible image, mainly useful if you have a high-end 4K 120 Hz TV.

What really sets them apart
The PS5 Pro packs a significantly more powerful GPU, improved ray tracing and more storage. In a world as dense as Leonida (see our map guide), that means a better balance between resolution and smoothness β provided Rockstar ships a solid performance mode and your screen keeps up.
The PS5 Slim is still an excellent machine: GTA 6 will look gorgeous. The real difference comes down to image sharpness and framerate stability in 4K.
The deciding factor: your screen
Simple: without a 4K 120 Hz HDMI 2.1 TV, the PS5 Pro loses much of its point. If you play on a standard TV, the visual gap with the Slim will be minimal β better to put that money into a good screen.

Our recommendation
- Tight budget or standard TV β PS5 Slim. Done.
- You have (or want) a 4K 120 Hz TV and want the best β PS5 Pro.
Either way, plan for the rest of the setup: controller, headset, storage. It's all in our best gear for GTA 6 guide.
