Nintendo's new console is powerful enough to make fans wonder: will GTA 6 come to Switch 2? With the game locked for November 19, 2026, here's exactly what Rockstar has confirmed, what's realistic, and what to do if Nintendo is your only console.
What Rockstar has actually confirmed
GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That's the whole confirmed platform list. There's no announced Switch 2 version, and no PC version at launch either (a PC release is rumored for later, but unconfirmed).
Why not Switch 2 at launch?
GTA 6 is an enormous, technically demanding game built around current-gen consoles. Rockstar has historically launched its biggest titles on the most powerful hardware first, then expanded to other platforms over the years. That pattern is why PS5 and Xbox Series X/S came first β and why any other version would follow later, if at all.
Could it happen eventually?
It's possible but unconfirmed. Rockstar has a long track record of porting older games to newer platforms over time. If a Switch 2 version ever arrives, expect it well after the November 2026 launch β not alongside it.
Your options if you're on Nintendo
To play GTA 6 at launch, you'll need a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S. The PS5 is by far the most popular choice among fans pre-ordering the game.
